In Loving Memory of Mr. Thuraisamy Thuraiappa

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our much-loved staff member, Mr. Thuraisamy Thuraiappa, in Paris.

The late Mr. Thuraiappa served St. John’s College with honesty, loyalty, and dedication for nearly 44 years. He joined SJC as a junior staff member under the then principal, Rev. J. T. Arulanantham, when he was just 16 years old. Throughout his long service, he earned the trust and respect of seven principals, always carrying out his duties faithfully and cheerfully.

Many of us will fondly remember his brisk walk and warm smile as he moved around the college, carrying files and messages from the principals to the teaching staff. He worked in the college office for many years before serving as assistant to the librarian in the college library.

Mr. Thuraiappa was the eldest son in the Late Thuraisamy family, with a younger brother and sister. In 1963, he met and married his beloved wife, Thiaalaivanam. Together, they raised five children — two sons and three daughters — and worked tirelessly to provide them with a good education and a bright future.

Their sons, Thavarajan and Pushpavinothan (Vino), were students of SJC, while their daughters studied at CGC. Vino played cricket for SJC and later for the Old Boys in the UK, where he remains an active member of CSJPPA-UK.

We join Old Johnians around the world in extending our heartfelt sympathies to his wife, children, and the entire family.
