We are sad to inform that Dr Mano (Nee Walton) Perinpanayagam,wife of Dr Sounthy Perinpanayagam has passed away on 21st of August 2017.She was the loving wife of Sounthy Perinpanayagam,younger sister of Late Mrs G.E.S Chelliah(Former Principal of CGC),cousin of Late Dr Victor Benjamin and Mr Pararasan Arulanantham.She was a student of Chundikuli Girls College,later at Methodist College in Colombo and then at St.John’s College,Jaffna.She was also a Treasurer of the CSJPPA(UK) in the early 80′s and took an active part in the activities of the association.May her soul rest in peace and our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends during this hard time.The funeral is on Saturday,2nd of September 2017 at 9am at St,Andrews Church,Malvern Avenue,Harrow,Middlesex,HA2 9ER.

We are saddened to inform that our former teacher / Vice Principal of SJC, Mr V.R Amarasingam has passed away. He joined SJC as teaching staff in 1953, taught Botany in both GCE(O/Level) and advanced level classes. He held various positions, secretary of games,Peto House master, Boarding house master for Handy hostel, Middle school supervisor, senior boarding house master & Vice Principal. He left SJC in 1981 and served as a teacher in one of the leading school in Oyo state Nigeria upto 1989. Mr. V. R. Amarasingam, Retired Vice Principal(1976 – 1980) passed away. May his Soul Rest In Peace.

The service for Joyce Sinonmany Gnanamuttu will take place at “Finchley Methodist Church” Ballard’s Lane, Finchley N3 1NB at 11 a.m on the 11th of August. After the service the congregation can make their way to the church hall where refreshments will be served. The family will leave for a private short service to the local crematorium. We are deeply saddened to inform that our beloved English teacher Mr Alex Thambirajah has passed away on 24th March 2017. He was a well known teacher of St John’s college; worked under five principals – Mr.K.P,Mr.CEA,Mr,TG Mr.EST & Mr.NST respectively. He is the 4th & the last child of Mr & Mrs Thambirah. He had his early education at Jaffna Central College and secondry education at St.John’s College. He graduated from the university of Peradeniya with rare combination of subjects ie: Western History, Geography & Economics. He then appointed as a teacher at SJC by Mr. A. W. Rajasegram (former Principal of SJC). He rejected the Vice Principal post offered by Mr. T.G. He was also the Peto house “House Master”, hostel master and English union Master in charge. He served the school for more than three years with the salary of Rs: 100. During his early periods he was a very active member of the teachers Guild. He was an all Ceylon badminton player and College Badminton coach. He was the Lake House sports correspondent for the northern region of Sri Lanka in sixties and seventies. He was honoured as one of the best teachers in the province by department of education. By Birth he was an Anglican Cristian after marriage he joined in Pentecostal religion. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, the 29th at 8am at the Ceylon Pentecostal Mission Hall, Kandy Road, Chundikuli, Jaffna, Sri Lanka
